The 2019 Homocysteine Mini conference proved to be an event that was very much needed in the Polish scientific community and which resulted in its second edition this year. Homocysteine Mini – Conference Poznań 2020 took place on 25 September 2020, and EPRO was in the good company of sponsors of the conference organized once again by the group of Prof. Hieronim Jakubowski. The opportunity to take an active part in the Homocysteine Mini – Conference Poznań 2020, i.e. the meeting of the most important Polish researchers on homocysteine, was a great honour for us. Participation in this event is also a part of EPRO’s mission to give our customers access to the best research products. Cooperation with the best Polish scientists and producers is a privilege for us.
Homocysteine occupies a central place in the metabolism of monocarbon units and sulphuric amino acids and is recognized as a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. High levels of this non-protein amino acid are associated with thrombosis, stroke, dementia, kidney failure, cancer and many other diseases. Research on homocysteine metabolism brings together hundreds of scientists and doctors from around the world.
One of the most important Polish scientific centres dealing with this subject is the University of Life Sciences in Poznań. Already last year, the scientists from the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology of UP and the group of Prof. Hieronim Jakubowski – a world recognized leader in research on homocysteine thiolactone metabolism – engaged in research on this amino acid, organized a unique event which was the Homocysteine Mini – Conference Poznań 2019. The main aim of the conference was to integrate Polish scientists and doctors sharing common “homocystein” scientific interests, as well as to exchange views on the latest research results in this field and to discuss interesting ideas and potential opportunities for cooperation.
